Teaching and Learning
Meet Ms. Langley!!
I was born in Durham, North Carolina where I lived until I came to college here in Atlanta, Georgia. I completed my undergraduate studies at Spelman College and my Masters degree at Georgia State University. I currently teach third grade and love every second of it! All four of my teaching have been in the third grade classroom.
I believe that learning is a never-ending process and hope to instill that sense of urgency in my students as well. My passion and hope for the field of education is that every student, regardless of race, sex, or culture, are able to compete on an even playing field. Initially, my studies were on the process of placing students on tracks that tended to be overwhelmingly harmful to students of color. Now, I am seeing interested in how self esteem affects student achievement, and what factors affect one's self esteem.
In the picture above, I was a proud, playful, and intelligent graduate of Russell Memorial Preschool! Relationships were an invaluable part of my life at this time. It was at home that I learned right from wrong, and how and who to trust. I got many of my values from my family. At school, I learned through play how to problem solve, negotiate, and make friends with my peers. I also learned very early on the expectations that my parents had for me and that after religion, education was one of the highest priorities.
